Nomos Lambda

Nomos is our newest watch brand to join the Ace collection this year, and we just can't get enough of it. Every single model from the Nomos collection is stunning, but the Lambda takes it to the next level with it's red gold case and finely finished, in-house movement.

Omega Speedmaster TinTin

Sadly, the Omega Speedmaster TinTin was discontinued in 2016, therefore we'd like to feature this playful model one last time in honor of all the Speedmaster connoisseurs.

Oris Artix Skeleton

The Oris Artix Skeleton was put into the spotlight in the fourth edition of The Ace List- Volume IV. This model is not only an impressive skeleton, but you don't have to pick your jaw up off the floor when you see the reasonable price.

Parmigiani Tonda 1950 Tourbillon

While the tourbillon is a piece of art in itself, but the white jade dial is also full of beautiful fine details. Thank you, Parmigiani, for gracing us with this stunning model in 2016.

Omega Speedmaster White Side of the Moon

Omega Speedmaster White Side of the Moon is eye catching in white ceramic yet is also controversial among Speedmaster purists- and that's why we had to feature this model in our top watches of 2016.

Longines Railroad

The Longines Railroad is one of our top picks of 2016 because 1) we love the vintage inspired design, 2) we love the sensible case diameter and 3) the accessible price point. This model even made Hodinkee's top watches of 2016 list.

The IWC Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar Antoine de St. Exupery combines rugged aesthetics with a complicated movement and perpetual calendar- this is something IWC is famous for.This watch looks as good on the outside as it ticks on the inside.

Bvlgari Lvcea

Bulgari took the classic Lucea and suprised us this year. It's all about the details with the pink cabechon crown and the stunning purple guilloche soleil finish dial. We will be coming back for more Bulgari in 2017.

Breitling Superocean 44 Special

The all black everything trend is here to stay in the Breitling Superocean 44 Special. This model is both practical and ultra cool with the black steel case and it is waterproofed to 1,000 meters.

Baume & Mercier Petite Promesse

Baume & Mercier combined a fashion forward design with luxury watch making. The diamond studded bezel and trendy, double wrap leather strap has pleased fashionistas worldwide, and therefore made our top watches of 2016 list.

Go incognito in the Franck Muller Cameo Vanguard. Usually cameo is meant to keep you undercover, but you will be sure to stand out in the crowd in this flashy timepiece by Franck Muller. A true statement watch of the year 2016.

A diamond ring is one of the most symbolic pieces of jewelry a woman will receive in her life; the tradition dates back centuries. The first known diamond engagement ring was crafted for the fiance of Archduke Maximillian of Austria, Mary of Burgundy, in 1477. Brilliant cut diamonds are the most popular shape for diamond engagement rings across the world.

Marquise Cut Diamonds

Marquise diamonds are great for people with long and slender fingers. The long form is two curves that come to a point on each end. The most important thing when selecting a Marquise diamond is that the symmetry is perfect.

Pear Cut Diamonds

Pear shape diamonds are a mix between Brilliant cut diamonds and Marquise diamonds. The bottom of the Pear cut diamond is round just like a Brilliant cut, while the top of the Pear shape is pointy like the Marquise cut. Just like the Marquise cut, symmetry is also very important to consider when picking out the perfect Pear diamond.

Oval Cut Diamonds

The Oval cut diamond is basically an elongated Brilliant cut. The Oval shape is also good for someone who has long and slender fingers. The Oval cut diamond is also fun to mix and match with other diamond shapes.

Princess Cut Diamonds

Finally we have the Princess cut diamond. The Princess cut diamond is perfectly square. The Princess cut is another one of the most popular diamond cuts, next to the Brilliant cut diamond.

Bulgari Octo Velocissimo

The Bulgari Octo Velocissimo looks just as it sounds. It's octagonal caseform has eight stainless steel sides making up the case. The architectural design of this automatic timepiece has a different form depending on which angle you're looking at it.

Baume & Mercier Hampton

The Hampton from Baume & Mercier has a classic look with a modern touch. The rectangular stainless steel case is long yet slender. The reserved color palette has a hint of luxury with the golden hands and numerals. Wearing the Baume & Mercier Hampton, you can be both classy and peculiar at the same time.

Longines Equestrian

The Longines Equestrian features a very special case. The dial and case are actually round, however the lugs seamlessly blend into the case, creating a bowed oval form. The brown, cream, and blue color palette of this model is understated and chic.

Nomos Tetra

Last but certainly not least, the Nomos Tetra. It is no surprise that we get something quirky from Nomos. The designer-y style of the Tetra features a square dial and architectural lugs. What we love about Nomos is that no detail is too small to be considered. The round seconds subdial is a welcomed contrast to the square case.

IWC not only delivered by presenting the stunning re-released Da Vinci collection, but they also wowed us with a brand new Perpetual Calendar.

The IWC manufactured automatic movement, fueled by the 89630 calibre, is the first manufacture calibre from IWC to combine the legendary moonphase system created by Kurt Klaus with a double chronograph counter. The other thing noticeably different on the moonphase subdial is that the moon is actually stationary. Instead the moon stays put and the night sky moves over the moon depicting the current position. The precision of this function has been perfected so well that only after 577.5 years will the moonphase need to be adjusted by just one day. It's pretty amazing.

Included in the same subdial as the moonphase are the hour and minute counters. The IWC design engineers created this function so the stopped times are read just like an analog watch. The blue steel central seconds hand allows the time to be calculated to as little as a quarter of a second. Other functions of this model include the flyback function, small hacking seconds, date, day, month, and year in four digits. The century slide includes the numbers 20, 21, and 22, meaning the year indicator will literally last centuries.

All of these functions are jam-packed into a 43mm 18 karat red gold or stainless steel dial. The red gold model features solid gold pushers and a silver plated dial. This model is delivered on a brown alligator strap by Santoni. The stainless steel model features a slate colored dial and black alligator strap by Santoni.

Franck Muller is never afraid to push the boundaries when it comes to Swiss watch making. The Franck Muller design team loves to go crazy in their color combinations, functions and textures. More IS more when it comes to Franck Muller, and we love that about them.

The audacious watches are as inspirational as the Franck Muller team. At our most recent visit to their watch making studios, we had the warmest welcome to view the newest novelties launched at WPHH- also known as the World Presentation of Haute Horlogerie. Franck Muller's timepieces are so striking that they deserved their own stand alone watch fair. The Haute Horlogerie studios are also known as Watchland and are as charming as the master watchmakers. The manufacturer exudes energy and we couldn't be more excited to share with you the exuberant designs.

The Franck Muller Backswing is what you expect to get from Franck Muller, but not from any other watch brand. The cheerful yellow dial and case is accented by a dimple texture- the exact same texture you see on a golf ball. Furthermore, this watch can help you keep track of how many strokes you've shot per hole.

While the design team at Franck Muller likes to have fun while golfing, you can still look good while doing it. This model features a rose gold case with the the same dimple detailing as the crazy yellow Backswing cousin...

To wear the Vanguard, you are avant-garde. The new PXL collection from Franck Muller features a pixilated case and dial. This particular model is also a tourbillion. The Master of Complications never disappoints on creativity.

This version of the Vanguard is dotted with diamonds instead of pixels. This perpetual calendar is not suitable for the faint-hearted. This showstopping watch is crazy, sexy and cool.

Big, bold, blue and covered in diamonds. The design team at Franck Muller don't do anything half measure. This head-turning timepiece is elegant yet is still sure to make a statement.

Last but not least, we have the brand new Gravity. This complicated watch features a skeleton and tourbillon in one. The yellow hour and second hands and carriage are highlighted on the dial. This tourbillon is set apart with the off-centered balance wheel that is 14mm in diameter  The design team at Franck Muller don't need a reason to do something out of the ordinary.

Montblanc created a new edition of the successful Orbis Terrarum dedicated to UNICEF- United nations International Children's Emergency Fund. A portion of the proceeds of every sale will be donated to the organization.

The Orbis Terrarum features a wearable 41mm dial made from polished stainless steel. The sapphire crystal protects the visually stimulating dial. The name of the watch is Latin for Earth. The dial is made up of multiple layers and has a map of the earth as seen from the North Pole. The worldtimer features 24 different cities across the globe. The hands determine the time of the city set at the red triangle located at six o'clock. The 24 hour ring around the edge of the dial tells what time it is in every other city found on the dial.

Montblanc produced this watch in Latin, Arabic and Chinese characters; each version is limited to 500 pieces. The stainless steel caseback features the UNICEF logo, and is delivered on a blue alligator strap, the organizations signature color.

History of the Da Vinci Collection

IWC surprised us this year at SIHH with a brand new Da Vinci Collection. The Da Vinci first rose to popularity in the 1980's when IWC created the first perpetual calendar in the Da Vinci family. The collection was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci's inventive spirit. The circle, being Da Vinci's favorite mathematical shape inspired the form and dial design of the perpetual calendar. The first Da Vinci ever made actually had a hexagonal case form. In 2007, IWC completely redesigned the case form of the Da Vinci and produced the collection with a tonneau case form similar yet slightly more oblong in shape to the first Da Vinci produced in 1969. Now ten  years later, IWC presented without further adiue, the all new Da Vinci collection.

IWC Automatic Moonphase 36

IWC produced an automatic moonphase in a mere 36mm with a variety of different materials. The 18 karat red gold case is truly a beauty. This model features blue steel hands, black arabic numerals and a gold and blue moonphase sub dial at 12 o'clock. This model is fitted with a brown alligator strap by Santoni. This model is also available in a stainless steel case set with 54 diamonds around the bezel. The ref. IW459307 features a silver plated dial, gold hands and arabic numerals and a blue steel seconds hand. Again this model features a blue and gold moonphase function at 12o'clock. Last but certainly not least, the polished stainless steel case lets the details do the talking. The blue steel arabic numerals and hands coordinate with the silver and blue moonphase function at 12o'clock. This model comes on a blue alligator strap.

IWC Da Vinci Automatic 36

The stunning Da Vinci Automatic 36 is available in several variations, all with the date located at 6 o'clock and a 42 hour power reserve. The wearable 36mm case is available in either stainless steel or 18 karat red gold. The showstopper of the collection is the 18 karat red gold case set with 54 diamnds. This model is delivered on a solid 18 karat red gold bracelet.

Parmigiani really put their best foot forward in this year's edition of SIHH 2017. Ladies, you are in luck as Mr. Parmigiani did not disappoint.

Introducing the limited edition Kalpa Donna Anniversaire. This stunning tonneau shaped case features a diamond bezel and lugs along both sides of the watch. The dial is available in a bright white, mandarin orange or lilac mother of pearl. The striking thing about the dial is that it has been engraved with a mesmerizing pattern that grows the further outward it goes. Each section of the pattern makes up for a rather decorative index, each form representing an hour of the day. Parmigiani adds a quirky touch to the dial by adding a single diamond bezel set at 12 o'clock.

These watches are powered by a quartz movement. The quartz movement has been completely crafted in 18 karat gold and made in house. The case back shows off the stunning hour work. This watch is limited to just 96 pieces- representing the year that Parmigiani Fleurier was founded.

TAG Heuer Autavia

TAG Heuer Autavia was re-released this year at the Geneva Watch Fair with a ton of anticipation. This model was originally launched in 1969, and after much anticipation, it was re-released. There was actually voting open to the public to come up with the new design. The following photos are the new and improved Autavia featuring the reverse panda dial and fitted with both a stainless steel bracelet and leather strap.

TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01

TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-01 was another highlight of the Geneva Watch Fair novelties. TAG Heuer first launched the Carrera Heuer-01 at Basel World in 2015. The watch has become a big hit with the skeletonized in-house movement. The chronograph keeps certain design elements seen in the Carrera collection like the lug forms but uses a variety of materials and the skeleton dial to differentiate this model.

The bold black ceramic model is masculine and robust. The bracelet, case, case middle, lugs and bezel are all made of the black, scratch resistant ceramic. The ceramic has been sand blasted for a deep black finish. Ceramic is even more light weight than steel, so it is an exceptionally practical material for daily wear.

TAG Heuer also released a special edition of this model for Red Bull Racing. This model features a blue ceramic bezel, black ceramic lugs, and a sporty blue leather strap. The red and white stitching on the strap is similar to the seats that one would see in a race car. The red and white accents on the skeletonized dial coordinates seamlessly with the strap.

TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 Day-Date Chronograph Black Titanium

In 2007, TAG Heuer launched the Carrera Calibre 16. In honor of the best selling models 10 year anniversary, TAG Heuer launched the model in a long awaited black titanium. This model has a beige tachymeter scale, Arabic numerals and hands coated with beige Superluminova for excellent legibility in the dark. This model is 43mm in diameter and is fitted with a trendy distressed brown leather strap.

TAG Heuer Aquaracer Ladies 300M

For more than a decade has the Aquaracer been a a sports watch that is popular among both men and women worldwide. This year, the designers at TAG Heuer launched a number of new editions of this watch for ladies featuring a black, purple or blue mother of pearl dial, diamond bezel and indexes, and a duo-tone stainless steel bracelet and/or satin watch strap. Who says you can't have a practical sports watch that looks glamorous, too?

The stars have aligned at Parmigiani Fleurier. This exquisite new version of the Tonda 1950 was inspired by the galaxy. The stunning rose gold case is a proud 39mm in diameter. The bezel is completely set with diamonds, adding a beautiful glow to the case. The dial takes center stage with it's sparkling Murano Aventurine glass dial. Aventurine Murano glass was first created in the 18th century by chance, when a glassblower accidentally let a sliver of copper fall into molten glass. The dial glimmers like the night sky full of stars in Val-de-Travers, the headquarters of Parmigiani Fleurier. This exquisite timepiece is finished with an opal set on the crown, resembling a nebula seen far out in the galaxy. Baume & Mercier unveiled a brand new Clifton at SIHH this year- Introducing the Clifton Club.

This new subfamily within the Clifton is a sporty take on what is usually a very classic collection from the Swiss watch maker. These watches are perfect for the sophisticated man who loves to partake in a sport outing.

There are several variations of the Clifton Club available- from a black, blue or white dial and bezel, as well as a choice of nylon or rubber straps or a stainless steel bracelet. These models feature a playful pop of orange on the seconds hand, triangular zero marker and detailing on the dial. The Clifton Club features a dive-style rotating bezel and the date located at three o'clock. Ticking away inside this model is an automatic movement with a 36 hour power reserve.

I am Jenna- one of Ace Jewelers online team members. Some of you may already know me as @MissAceJewelers on Instagram. I am an avid jewelry lover. I have adored jewelry since I was little, and I am also a trained designer and goldsmith. My first purchase at Ace Jewelers was the Nomos Orion Rose 33 ref. 325. I actually surprised myself by getting a watch rather than jewelry- but then I discovered Nomos.

With a passion for both art and design history, I really wanted something that focused on quality. As the famed American architect Louis Sullivan once said, "form follows function;" that is exactly what Nomos' ethos is. They don't include extras like a diamond bezel just for the sake of adding diamonds. This was a difficult thing for me to overcome as a jeweler and also as someone slightly obsessed with diamonds. But, I also appreciate companies that adhere to design laws.

"I don’t accept the objection that ornament heightens a cultivated person’s joy in life. I don’t accept the objection contained in the words, ‘But if the ornament is beautiful!’ Ornament does not heighten my joy in life or the joy in the life of any cultivated person,” wrote Adolf Loos in Ornament and Crime.

With Nomos, ornament does not heighten the value of the watch. The value of the watch is the movement, that is ticking away inside. The movements at Nomos are all produced in-house; you really get what you pay for- and then some. This is why I started to fall in love with the brand. Almost every single model that the German watchmaking company has produced has won countless well-deserved awards. The Nomos Orion Rose 33 has won awards from Munich Time, Vienna Time, and Uhr des Jahres, to name a few.

The reason I bought the Nomos Orion Rose 33 starts with the size. My wrist isn't even 15cm (less than 6 inches for my fellow Americans) in circumference, so I needed a case that wasn't too big. I like a delicate watch, but the 33mm case is still big enough for daytime. The other reason I went for the Orion rose, is that I am a little bit OCD when it comes to mixing metals, and I love rose gold. A solid gold case was well out of my budget, and I also didn't really want a case that was gold plated. I think the Nomos Orion Rose really does a great job of balancing the yellow gold hands and index with the slightly pinkish dial, and then the stainless steel case. I feel like I can literally wear any color of gold with this watch and it will still match. Ultimately, I was in the market for a watch that I could wear with anything and everything, every day.

The Nomos Orion Rose 33 features the Alpha hand-wound movement. It has a 43 hour power reserve, and I wind the watch every morning while drinking an espresso. At first I thought I wasn't going to like having to wind my watch every morning, but it has become a ritualistic part of my daily routine.

I also like watching the movement through the sapphire crystal caseback. Before I bought the Orion, I never thought it would be important to me to have a watch with a sapphire crystal caseback. It is one of those nice extra's that Nomos offers at this price point that a lot of other brands don't. While other people don't know the sapphire crystal caseback is there while I'm wearing it, I know it's there, and that's just fine.

Franck Muller never ceases to amaze us at Ace Jewelers. The unconventional watch designs are always entertaining to look at. There are some timepieces however that are more traditional in style. Franck Muller is not one to adhere to the norm- unless an impressive feature is worked into the design.

The Cintree Curvex Double Mystery is a classic looking watch at a glance. The solid gold case, white dial and black numerals are easy on the eyes. The showstopping detail on this watch is the double mystery dial. Mystery clocks date back over 100 years.
The original mystery wall clock featured a glass dial, with hands in the middle. No trace of the movement was visible through the glass dial, making it truly a mystery as to how the hands moved. Decades later, the mystery clock was adapted into a wrist watch. Franck Muller produced this clever dial which is made up three parts. The seconds hand is a disc directly in the middle which rotates once every minute. The hour hand is on another disk, which rotates once every hour. The concept was inspired by the original mystery clock, and to give the illusion of not knowing how the hour and minute hands moved.

Imagine this: there's new Speedmasters from our own collection. There's vintage Speedmasters courtesy of WatchWorks Haarlem & other friends. There's rare limited editions & discontinued models like both Snoopy editions, the Apollo 11 45th Anniversary and the 'TinTin' Racing. And of course we have loads of books, documentation, straps, and all-round cool stuff.

The Moon Room will be opened to view, research, and talk Speedmasters during opening hours of our Ace & Spyer boutique. Furniture is largely supplied by up-and-coming designers Michel Gallus (of www.Sapwood.nl) en Niels Kroon.

We will also be hosting four events for which we appreciate a RSVP as there is limited space available. The events will start around 18:00-18:30.

Ace Jewelers The Moon Room

This year Omega is celebrating the 60^th anniversary of the Omega Speedmaster. In keeping with this celebration, Ace Jewelers has created The Moon Room, a two-week private lounge and gallery. For this special exhibition, Ace Jewelers has teamed up with WatchWorks Haarlem, Watchbase, and a number of private collectors to present rare limited editions, vintage and discontinued collectors items, alongside Speedmasters from the current collection. Also on display is bespoke furniture by up and coming furniture designers and makers, Niels Kroon and Michel Gallus of www.Sapwood.nl.

Opening Night

The opening night of The Moon Room was Tuesday February 28^th. The event was kicked off with refreshments and a presentation by Robert Jan Broer and his story of how he coined the hashtag #SpeedyTuesday, after which collectors had the chance to talk watches, take pictures, and share their passion with like-minded individuals.

‘A venue such as The Moon Room has long been a dream, and the recent relocation of our Ace Online HQ has given us the space to exhibit the watches to their full potential’, says Dale Vito of Ace Online. ‘The feel of The Moon Room is casual and relaxed, with art, books, magazines and auction catalogues centered around the Speedmaster and its history. Its different from our boutiques, yet at the same time 100% Ace’.

The following event will take place on Thursday, March 2^nd with a presentation by WatchWorks Haarlem on what to know when buying vintage Speedmasters. Ace Jewelers CEO Alon Ben Joseph will insider scoop on his recent visit to the Omega Factory in Switzerland on Tuesday, March 7^th. Amsterdam, March 9^th, 2017 – For the third year in a row, Ace Jewelers has won the Dutch eCommerce Shopping Awards Publieksprijs for best eBoutique in the luxury sector. Judging for the Shopping Awards (formerly Thuiswinkel Awards) was determined by evaluations from thousands of independent consumers.

On Thursday, March 9^th 2017, Ace Jewelers received the Shopping Award for best eBoutique in its class. The awards are based on independent evaluations where thousands of consumers have rated their favorite online boutiques. The award was presented to Ace Jewelers by Dutch TV-personality Jan-Joost van Gangelen at the Media Plaza in Utrecht.

“We are truly humbled that for the third year in row consumers rated us as the best eBoutique in the Dutch fashion industry,” says Alon Ben Joseph, CEO Ace Jewelers Group. “Our family-owned and run business is fueled by passionate team members that try to excel on a daily basis. The family-owned Ace Jewelers Group was founded in Amsterdam over 40 years ago. In 2007, the company evolved to a multichannel retailer, with a strong presence and identity both online and offline. Thuiswinkel.org is the Dutch national eCommerce trade association. Besides looking after the interests of its members, the mission of the organization is to increase confidence in online shopping. Thuiswinkel.org introduced a seal of approval where a shop must meet a number of criteria including financial stability, warranty and privacy. This ensures that consumers can shop online with confidence. Currently there are more than 2,100 certified online stores with the so-called Thuiswinkel Waarborg, including Ace Jewelers.

The Moon Room

The two week pop-up exhibition of The Moon Room was a great success. The exhibition celebrated the 60th anniversary of the iconic watch by displaying rare limited editions, vintage and discontinued collectors items, alongside Speedmasters from the current collection.

Nanis Italian Jewels never disappoints. Team Ace had a great time trying on the new pieces designer Laura Bicego came up with for this years edition of Basel World. Staying true to quintessential Nanis, the new pieces had a matte finish, with hand engraved detailing.
